School Travel Plan

What is Travel for Life?

Travel for Life is Transport for London’s accreditation programme (formerly STARS) that supports schools to encourage walking, cycling, scooting and responsible use of public transport. The programme aims to reduce car use, improve safety and help young Londoners develop healthy travel habits.

What Gold Accreditation Means

Achieving Gold status shows that we:

• embed active and sustainable travel into everyday school life

• demonstrate a measurable reduction in car use or achieved very high levels of sustainable travel

• Deliver a wide range of activities, events and initiatives that promote safe, healthy and environmentally friendly travel

• Work closely with TfL and the local authority to improve road safety and reduce congestion around the school

• Engage pupils, staff, parents and the wider community in travel awareness and behaviour change

Gold schools are recognised as role models for sustainable travel across London, contributing to cleaner air, safer streets and healthier lifestyles.

Why It Matters

• Health & wellbeing: More children walking, cycling and scooting means increased daily activity.

• Cleaner air: Reduced car use helps improve local air quality.

• Safer streets: Fewer cars at drop‑off and pick‑up times create a safer environment for everyone.

• Community impact: Gold schools help shape positive travel habits for the next generation.
