Key Stage One & Two

Curriculum guidance


All primary children follow the National Curriculum, which is made up of two key stages.

Children aged 5 to 7 years, follow the Key Stage One Curriculum and children aged 7 to 11 years, follow the Key Stage 2 Curriculum.


Classes at Mossford Green are organised into these National Curriculum year groups with approximately 30 children in each class; 60 children in each year group.

Key Stage One: Year 1 & Year 2

Lower Key Stage Two: Year 3 & Year 4

Upper Key Stage Two: Year 5 & Year 6


At Mossford Green our aim is to make teaching of the curriculum as rich, creative and exciting as possible for our children.

Teaching and learning at Mossford Green is carefully planned and monitored to ensure that all aspects of the National Curriculum are covered.


The National Curriculum is comprised of the following compulsory subjects:

Core Subjects: English, Maths and Science

Foundation Subjects: Art and Design, Computing, Design and Technology, Languages, Geography, History, Music, Physical Education and Religious Education.
